As of 9/19/2016 the Schweizer 2-33 (the 2-place glider) is down for the remainder of the season. Some damage to the nose bowl fiberglass was ill-timed with the upcoming annual inspection required and is best rolled together with the fabric restoration that had been planned for the ‘off’ season. The 1-26 will be available for the rest of the season and tows will be available if any members want tows in their own glider, but the two-seater won’t be flyable until spring of 2017.
The good news is that after taking it all apart, we found that the structural tubing is in great shape and a perfect time to address some light corrosion. Our mechanic agreed it’s in good shape and could only find dry rot on the tire to complain about. 🙂
A BIG thank you to the members who have pitched in some funds to help cover the repair costs!
